An ownership transfer for Mountain Creek Resort of Vernon, NJ was announced on Wednesday, just in time for the busy winter ski season coming up in less than six weeks.
Joe Hession, CEO of Snow Operating, acquired a "controlling interest in the resort" from the Koffman family ownership, which includes Snow Operating assuming 50 percent ownership of Mountain Creek and will have exclusive year-round oversight of the resort's ski and waterpark operations. This will also include all other day-to-day activities that occur.
This 50 percent ownership deal is effective immediately where Hession is also taking a dual role as the Mountain Creek's CEO from Jeff Koffman, who held the position since 2015.
The resort and township have been said to be on a "comprehensive settlement" of the resort's Chapter 11 federal bankruptcy lawsuit which was filed in May of 2017. This issue is still subject to court approval as well as agreement by Sussex County and other interested parties and creditors.
