Runoff Election Results In Lake Worth, Riviera Beach & West Palm Beach

Lake Worth voters decided to keep Incumbent city Commissioner Herman Robinson in his District 4 seat for another term.

Robinson easily defeated Tom Copeland in a runoff election Tuesday, getting just under 70 percent of the vote.

The sitting commissioner had captured 49 percent of the vote in the municipal election two weeks ago, to Copeland's 27 percent.

Copeland conceded in an attempted to save the city the $25,000 it costs to run another election, but the city attorney said the charter called for no other option than a runoff, so the political newcomer continued to campaign through Facebook, urging resident to get out and vote.

Voters in Riviera Beach ousted three incumbents, including 12-year Mayor Thomas Masters.

After winning his last term in 2016 by garnering 58 percent of the vote, Masters needed a runoff in an attempt to complete a victory this time around, but fell short. He got 41 percent of the vote in the faceoff against Ronnie Felder, who picked up the other 59 percent.

Incoming Mayor Felder will have three brand new council members to work with.

Incumbent Lynne Hubbard was defeated in the runoff by accountant Tradrick McCoy in District 1. The margin was 74 to 26 percent.

County health planner Shirley Lanier beat incumbent Tonya Davis Johnson in District 3 by capturing 58 percent of the vote.

Douglas Lawson got 53 percent in the race for the District 5 seat, defeating Cory Blackwell.

In West Palm Beach, 36 votes was all that separated Richard Ryles from Christy Fox, but it was enough for Ryles to declare victory, officially capturing 50.3 percent of the vote in the race for City Commission, District 3.

Ryles, an attorney, has said he wants to grow businesses through incentives and loans.

Turnout in the city was about 10 percent for yesterday's runoff.
