Newton Man Charged for Supplying Alcohol to Woman that Fell from Building

A Newton man has been charged with supplying alcohol to a 19-year-old who died after falling from a building on Spring Street in April. According to the New Jersey Herald, 33-year-old Dean Sugar is facing a disorderly persons charge for giving alcohol to someone that is under the legal drinking age.

Lindsey Wright reportedly fell 30-feet from a window at 144 Spring St., historically known as the Waldmere Hotel and was transported to Newton Medical Center but later died from her injuries. The Byram resident was a 2017 graduate of Lenape Valley High School and a student at the County College of Morris.

Her death was ruled "accidental in nature."
