INTERVIEW: The Vamps On 'All Night,' New Album, Tour & iHeartRadio Music Awards Predictions

The Vamps have a big year ahead of them. They released their new single "All Night," a collaboration with Norwegian tropical house DJ/producer Matoma in October 2016. It was written by Connor Ball, James McVey, Brad Simpson, Tristan Evans, Justin Franks, Danny Majic and John Mitchell and produced by DJ Frank E, Danny Majic, and Matoma. The new EDM single has been a huge international success and made the top 10 charts in Belgium, Ireland and Scotland. Now, the guys have a new album planned that they are currently working on, as well as a new tour. This is the first new music we've heard from the British band since they released their 2015 album Wake Up.

We recently caught up with the guys, and during an exclusive interview, they told us about their new song "All Night," how they connected with Matoma on the song, and teased their forthcoming album and tour.

"All Night" is a little different from what fans have previously heard from The Vamps. The guys call Matoma a "very talented man" and explain that they sang "All Night" while it was in its very early stages, and then sent it off to the producer/DJ. As for why they chose Matoma, real name Tom Stræte Lagergren, the guys say that there are a lot of parallels between them, even though they come from different genres of music.  "He was kind of on his way up in establishing himself in his own right, and I think we were going into a different style of music for us. So it kinda felt right to both do it at the same time. It felt like hopefully the song will grow, and we'll grow together as separate artists."

"All Night" is just the beginning of new music for The Vamps, as the band tells us that they have, "a new album coming out in the summertime, and a tour coming soon." The guys explain that they recorded half the album in America, half in England, and a little bit in Sweden. And it looks like they've made good progress so far. "We may have actually finished part of it," they tell us.

Having heard the EDM-centric "All Night," fans might be wondering what else they can expect from the band's new album. And the answer is, according to The Vamps themselves, there are similar songs, but there are also songs reflective of the sound on their previous two albums. "It's a mish-mash. There are going to be follow-ups to 'All Night,' in the similar vein. But then, for us, we wanted to stick to our roots, and go back to how the first album sounded in part, and parts of the second album, and then a new sound for us as a band. So, it's all a mix of genres."

With the iHeartRadio Music Awards coming up on Sunday, March 5th, The Vamps will be doing a live broadcast Pre-Party for fans via YouNow ahead of the show, on Saturday, March 4th at 2pm ET/11am PT.
