A Texas man and his common-law wife were arrested in Tewksbury, Massachusetts after police found an arsenal of weapons in their hotel room. Francho S. Bradley claims he had a valid reason for having the weapons, he was on a top-secret government mission. The two are being held without bail and face over 40 criminal charges, including eight counts of possession of a large capacity firearm.
Police said Bradley called them while he was driving to Boston to report a break-in at his hotel room. Bradley reportedly had a surveillance camera set-up watching his room, and when it malfunctioned he decided to call the authorities. He told police he had an unsecured gun and did not want it to fall into the wrong hands.
When police arrived, they found no signs of a break-in but quickly discovered the cache of weapons and ammunition according to the Lowell Sun.
Police obtained a search warrant for the room and Bradley's vehicle, and ended up finding eight large-capacity guns, including an AK-47, and an AR-15 that was equipped with a bump stock, a grenade launcher, and a silencer, according to a police report.
Officers also found 19 large-capacity magazines for various guns, dozens of rounds of ammunition, laptop computers, cell phones, walkie talkies, tactical vests, and smoke grenades among other items, according to a police report.
Police arrested Bradley and his wife when they returned the hotel room. Bradley told the cops he needed the guns for a "mission" for a government agency he refused to identify.
"Francho went on to say he can't tell us what he does for work or why he has all the guns with him, but that he is down in this area working for a government agency that is dealing with a virus," police wrote in a report.
Robert Normandin, who is representing Bradley, said the weapons were just "props" and the accessories police found were not functional. He claims that Bradley works for Enysma Engineering, a company that sells communication devices to the military and other clients.
