SEFFNER -- A 17 year old Armwood High student is facing charges after Hillsborough deputies say they caught him with a loaded gun on campus.
Deputies say a teacher smelled a marijuana odor around 10:30 Tuesday morning. School administrators searched his backpack.
They found a loaded M&P firearm with one round in the chamber and what they describe as a full magazine. Deputies say the gun belonged to a parent who didn't know the gun was taken. They didn't find pot, but they did find a scale.
Hillsborough Sheriff Chad Chronister says the student "made a very poor decision and must face the consequences," while warning parents to secure firearms and prevent access by their children.
