Bye Bye Beta, and all the other Greek letters once we run out of hurricane names in a given season.
"Beginning this hurricane season we will no longer use the Greek alphabet if we run out of names on the primary list, " said Ken Graham, Director of the National Hurricane Center.
Graham says the World Meteorological Organization made the change due to confusion created by pronouncing the Greek letters' names in other languages. Instead, there's a supplemental, overflow A to Z list of names beginning with Adria.
The names Dorian and Laura have been retired.
The supplemental list is as follows:
Adria
Braylen
Caridad
Deshawn
Emery
Foster
Gemma
Heath
Isla
Jacobus
Kenzie
Lucio
Makayla
Nolan
Orlanda
Pax
