Mickey Guyton shared which one of her familyâs holiday traditions is her favorite.
The Texas-born singer-songwriter â who recently debuted her festive 8-track album, Feels Like Christmas â said she and her family have âan international cookout. âŚThis is the thing that we really look forward to and we take it seriously,â Guyton said when she caught up with Womanâs World in an interview that published on Friday (December 12).
âItâs an international cookout where the whole family comes togetherâin-laws, nieces, nephews, cousinsâand we pick an international dish that weâve never tried before, and we cook it,â Guyton told Womanâs World. âMy parents have a really big kitchen, and some people cook at their house and bring it over. We try each personâs dish and whoever has the best dish wins. There are great cash prizes. We donât really do gifts anymore. This is the thing that we really look forward to and we take it seriously. Iâve won it two years.â
Guyton also said âChristmas feels magical again for me,â since she and husband Grant Savoy welcomed their son, Grayson, who will turn 5 in February. The âAll Americanâ artist said âthereâs nothing like looking through the lens of a little kid.â
Last month, Guyton spoke with iHeartCountry on the red carpet at the 59th CMA Awards in Nashville, Tennessee. She said at that time that she âused to always get the âChristmas blues,â because, you know, itâs just a sign that life is so short. And then once I had my son, Christmas became magical again for me.â She also said âitâs just so important and itâs just been really fun to watch him [Grayson] enjoy Christmas. âŚItâs been really cool to see him be so happy around these holidays and be with his cousins. We have all these fun traditions that I do with my family, so itâs been really cool to do that with another addition.â
Guyton also spoke with Womanâs World about recording Feels Like Christmas in China (where it was â90 or 100-plus degreesâ), the âjoyâ she feels during the holiday season, her âfun, sexy Christmas songâ (âSugar Cookieâ), and more. Find Feels Like Christmas on iHeartRadio here.
