Reba McEntire’s new 5-track EP “proves no one has sung about heartbreak over the last 50 years quite like she has.”
McEntire, 71, released Hurt like That on Friday (May 22). The collection serves as the second installment of the beloved legend’s ongoing plan to release new music every month in honor of her five-decade career in the entertainment industry. The new EP’s title track “proves no one has sung about heartbreak over the last 50 years quite like she has,” states a press release issued Friday morning. Kellys Collins and Casey Wood teamed up to write “Hurt Like That,” which was produced by Dave Cobb. McEntire shared in an Instagram caption that the song is “part of a capsule of some of my favorite heartbreak songs and I sure hope you enjoy it.”
Other songwriters and producers appearing on the project include Hillary Lindsey, Tony Brown, McEntire and more.

McEntire’s ongoing new music capsules are “thematically curated,” and pair “a newly recorded song with carefully selected tracks that celebrate five legendary decades. The Oklahoma-born country star released five new tracks on One Night In Tulsa last month. She delivered the debut live performance of the title track — written by Neal Coty, Kylie Frey and Thom McHugh — at her restaurant in Atoka, Oklahoma, Reba’s Place.
